Understanding the Service

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is precisely how it sounds: a take on medicine and wellness from a natural perspective. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are regulated health professionals — thoroughly trained in the body’s systems and in evidence-based natural therapies — who focus on treating the root cause of illness, not just the symptoms.

At Femade, our NDs have dedicated their practices to fully understanding the varying needs of women at every phase of life. Whether you’re navigating hormonal shifts, managing a chronic condition, or simply trying to feel well again — they meet you where you are and build a plan that aligns with your lifestyle and goals.

Our Practitioners

Find a person, not just a practitioner.

Both NDs at Femade bring focused expertise in women’s health. Find the right fit for your concerns and book directly with your preferred doctor.

I have a special interest in precision medicine encompassing prevention and health optimization.  I don’t believe in population health, so why should I try to fit you into a population you are different from? I focus on the gut-brain connection and how it impacts hormonal, immune system, nutrient and mental/emotional health.

Life Stages

Naturopathic Care at Every Phase of Life

Our NDs support women from adolescence through menopause and beyond — each stage bringing its own hormonal, physical, and emotional landscape that deserves expert, personalized attention

01
Adolescence

PMS · Irregular Periods · Reproductive Education

Adolescence marks a significant transition, especially with the onset of menarche. Our NDs support this journey by helping manage PMS, irregular periods, and provide education on reproductive health choices — empowering young women to understand and care for their bodies from the start.

02
Reproductive Years & Family Planning

PCOS · Fertility · Endometriosis · Pregnancy

Mood swings, irregular cycles, weight changes, or symptoms of PCOS/PMOS, endometriosis, or menopause that haven’t been fully addressed.

03
Perimenopause

Hormone Balancing · Sleep · Mood · Cycle Changes

The transition into menopause can span years — and the symptoms can be disruptive. Our NDs guide and support women through perimenopause with evidence-based strategies to manage symptoms, stabilize hormones, and maintain quality of life through every phase of the transition.

04
Menopause

Osteoporosis · Cardiovascular · GSM · Healthy Aging

Menopause brings lasting hormonal change — and new health priorities. Our NDs address concerns like osteoporosis, cardiovascular health, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) through tailored wellness strategies, preventive care, and holistic support for healthy aging.

05
Chronic Illness & Autoimmune Disease

Hashimoto’s · Rheumatoid Arthritis · Diabetes · Lupus

Our NDs approach autoimmune and chronic conditions like private investigators — digging into root causes that standard workups often miss. For conditions like Hashimoto’s, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetes, they build comprehensive, individualized treatment plans that address the underlying drivers of illness.

06
Gut Health & the Microbiome

IBS · Crohn’s · Colitis · Microbiome Health

The gut influences everything from hormones to mental health. For those managing Crohn’s disease, colitis, IBS, or simply persistent digestive discomfort, our NDs offer tailored solutions to restore balance, reduce inflammation, and improve daily quality of life through a whole-body lens.

What is a naturopathic doctor in Ontario?

A naturopathic doctor (ND) in Ontario is a regulated health professional trained in both conventional medical sciences and natural therapeutics. NDs are licensed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and complete a four-year accredited naturopathic medical program following an undergraduate degree.

No referral is needed to book at Femade. You can book directly online through our booking system. Some extended health plans may require a referral for reimbursement — check with your insurer to confirm your specific coverage details.

Naturopathic medicine is not covered by OHIP. However, most extended health benefit plans in Ontario cover naturopathic visits. Femade provides official receipts for direct submission to your insurer. We recommend confirming your annual coverage limit before your first appointment.

Yes. PCOS is a core area of focus for both of our NDs. Sessions address hormone regulation, blood sugar management, inflammation reduction, cycle optimization, fertility preparation, and weight concerns — using evidence-based natural therapies personalized to your lab work and symptom picture.

Our naturopathic sessions are fully virtual, conducted via secure video call. This makes specialized women’s health naturopathic care accessible from anywhere in Ontario — no commute, no waiting room, no barriers to access.

Absolutely. Our NDs provide evidence-based support for perimenopause and menopause including hormone balancing strategies, hot flash and sleep management, bone density support, cardiovascular health, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) — tailored to your specific symptom profile.

While both MDs and NDs study anatomy, physiology, and diagnosis, NDs dedicate additional training to natural therapeutics — including clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle counselling, and mind-body medicine. NDs focus on identifying root causes and supporting the body’s innate ability to heal, often working alongside your medical doctor as part of an integrated care team.
