Her Story

You gave yourself permission to be vulnerable.

Hi, I’m Keara. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the immense courage and strength it takes to access care for your mental health. Just by attending therapy, you have given yourself permission to be vulnerable — and I am honoured that you would consider including me on your healing journey.

The process of working through emotional and physical pain is not easy. I myself am familiar with physical and emotional trauma, invisible illness, and the experience of trying to navigate the traditional medical system. Together, we will explore the interconnectedness of mind and body — how, as individuals, our experiences are as unique as we are.

Originally from Newfoundland, the ancestral unceded homelands of the Beothuk and Mi’kma’ki people, and a mother of two, I have over 10 years of experience in the field of social work. I am specialized in, and passionate about, gender-based violence, advocacy work with women, youth, 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC and oppressed communities, and social justice issues.

I am also an avid outdoor adventurist, forest wanderer, and former competitive mountain biker who believes deeply in the healing powers of nature. I believe in working within an inclusive, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment — and I’m truly excited to be part of the Femade team.

Unique to Keara

Outdoor Walk & Talk Therapy.

60 minutes - $175

Outdoors Weather permitting · Initial intake sessions conducted indoors

Walk & Talk Therapy combines movement, conversation, and nature in a more relaxed, less clinical setting. Walking side-by-side can create space for deeper reflection, grounding, and meaningful change especially for those who feel more comfortable outdoors.

Movement Supports the Nervous System

Gentle physical movement while processing emotions can reduce arousal, support regulation, and lower the intensity of difficult conversations

Less Clinical, More Natural

Walking side-by-side — rather than face-to-face across a desk — creates a fundamentally different dynamic that many people find easier to be open within

The Natural World as Healer

The environment is woven into the session — not just its setting. Presence, grounding, and connection to something beyond ourselves are therapeutic in their own right

Rooted in the Same Values

Client-centred, feminist, trauma-informed — just with fresh air. The therapeutic frame doesn’t change when you step outside

Clinical Focus

What Keara supports & treats.

01

Chronic Pain & Pelvic Pain

Chronic pain can impact how you relate to your body, identity, and daily life. Keara supports the emotional, psychological, and relational aspects of living with chronic pain, alongside its physical experience, offering a more holistic approach to care.

02

Invisible Illness & Medical Gaslighting

Experiences of being dismissed, doubted, or not believed within the healthcare system can be deeply invalidating and traumatic. Keara offers validation for experiences that are often overlooked and supports clients in reconnecting with and trusting their own understanding of their bodies.

03

Gender Violence & Abuse

Trauma processing, safety planning, and support in rebuilding a sense of self after violence, with a feminist approach that centres each person’s lived experience and pace rather than an institutional framework.

04

2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC & Oppressed Communities

A welcoming, affirming space that honours all identities and lived experiences. Keara recognizes the impact of systemic oppression on mental health and integrates this awareness into her therapeutic work.

05

Grief & Loss
Grief is non-linear and deeply personal. Whether it’s bereavement, ambiguous loss, anticipatory grief, or the loss of a version of your future self — Keara creates space for the full weight of it.

06

Youth, Parents of Youth & Older Adults
From school anxiety and identity discovery to supporting parents navigating their child’s experience — and care for older adults who are often underserved in mental health. All ages, all stages.

07

Disordered Eating

A compassionate, weight-inclusive space to explore your relationship with food, your body, and yourself. When appropriate, Keara collaborates with Femade’s dietitian to provide integrated, coordinated care.

08

Mind-Body Connection

Integrating the mind–body connection to support individuals of all genders and life stages, from newborns through older adulthood.
